Religions play an important role in the constitution of the distinctive cultural characteristics for the Chinese and foreign languages and literatures. Both the Eastern and Western cultures have been deeply influenced by religions, which contains the complex and diversified religious factors. Literary translation is defined as the rewriting and reconstruction of the original in a particular language and cultural context. Recently, more and more translation scholars in the field of the studies of literary translation start to pay attention to the religious factors involved in the translation of Classics.In order to expand the field of literature translation studies and promote interdisciplinary researches between literature and religion, Comparative Literature and World Literature Research Center, as the National Key Disciplines, in Shanghai Normal University,and Pusan National Universitywill co-host an International Conference (June 21-22^th, 2014) on the topic of The Reconstruction of Classics: Studies on Literature Translation from the Perspective of Religions. As the holder, wesincerely invite theacademic scholars from both abroad and home to attend this coming great conference.

The conference will cover topics such as:

★The translation, publishing, distribution and spread of the Literary and religious Classics

★Religiousinfluences on literary translation activities, such as translation strategies, translation discourse, translation subjectivity, etc.

★The interactions between religious denominations and literary translation

★Studies on religious practice and stylistics of translated literature

★Religion and Translation Poetics
